NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSAL TO ESTABLISH EXTENSION TO GERMANTOWN SEWER DISTRICT NO. 1

Notice is hereby given that the Town Board of the Town of Germantown, Columbia County, will meet at the Town Hall, 50 Palatine Park Road, Germantown, New York, on the 13th day of March, 2018 at 6:45pm, prevailing time, for the purpose of conducting a public hearing upon a proposal by said Town Board to establish an Extension to the Germantown Sewer District No. 1, by adding seven parcels of property to the existing Sewer District and by further expanding the Sewer District boundary as shown in the Map, Plan and Report referred to below, at which time and place said Town Board will meet to consider such proposition and hear all persons interested in the subject thereof and concerning the same.

The proposed Extension is described in a Map, Plan and Report for Germantown Sewer District No. 1 Amendment dated December 4, 2017, prepared by Delaware Engineering, D.P.C. (the “Extension Report”) on file in the office of the Town Clerk for public inspection.

No additional capital cost is proposed for the Extension to the Germantown Sewer District No. 1.  According to the Extension Report, the estimated total annual cost to the typical property within the Extension is $594.00 per unit.  Hook-up fees include a $15.00 permit and inspection fee plus the cost of any required construction lateral connection.

The Sewer District boundary as proposed to be extended is set forth at Appendix B to the Extension Report and attached hereto, and as depicted in Figure 1 of the Extension Report and attached hereto.

The method of apportioning the costs of the Sewer District including the Extension is to assess the costs entirely against the lands benefited thereby, and to assess, levy and collect costs from the several lots or parcels within such benefited area in just proportion to the amount of benefit which the improvement shall confer upon such lots or parcels.
