The Town of Germantown Comprehensive Plan Committee will hold a public hearing on its draft 2017 Comprehensive Plan Update on June 1, 2017 at 7 p.m. at Germantown Town Hall.
The public hearing will include a brief presentation outlining the purpose of a comprehensive plan and highlight some of the key recommendations. The hearing also will give the public an opportunity to comment on the draft 2017 Comprehensive Plan Update.
“We are seeking public input on the draft Comprehensive Plan Update and encourage residents to attend this public hearing,” said Germantown Comprehensive Plan Committee Chairman Norman Mintz.
A comprehensive plan, or master plan, articulates a community’s vision for its future, and contains goals and recommendations designed to guide growth. “The Comprehensive Plan forms the basis for future land-use regulations in our town, so it is a very important document and we invite the public to give us your feedback,” said Comprehensive Plan Committee Co-Chairman Jason Shelton.
The town board retained Alan J. Sorensen, AICP last October to assist the Comprehensive Plan Committee in updating the Town’s 2011 Comprehensive Plan. One of the committee’s first orders of business was to hold a “Community Visioning session” to hear from the public about the issues important to them in the future development of their town. The committee then held regularly scheduled open meetings at Germantown Town Hall.
The public is invited to view the draft comprehensive plan before the public hearing. Copies of the draft plan are available at Germantown Town Hall, 50 Palentine Park Road, and can be viewed online at http://www.germantownny.org/community/comp-plan-review/
The Committee will accept written comments on the 2017 Comprehensive Plan Update until June 8, 2017. Please submit your written comments to the attention of Comprehensive Plan Committee, Germantown Town Hall, 50 Palentine Park Road, Germantown, New York 12526.
